What Will the History Books Say About You?

One of best parts of tabletop war gaming are the stories that unfold on the battlefield. Watching a wounded operative charge into combat to delay an enemy or seeing a sniper remove one of your most important operatives from the battlefield are epic moments. We want to encourage you to expand on the stories told during gameplay by weaving them into a larger world for us all to play in.

As I talked about in a previous post Narrative Goals are a completely optional part of this campaign. Should you want to try it out, here are some ideas on how to begin the legendary tale of your Kill Team. Feel free to use these as is, change them to suit your team, or write your own! There’s no limit to the storytelling opportunities in Kelic.

Narrative Prompts

Seek and Destroy

  • The stain of chaos shall be cleansed from this system. Assault their installations, destroy their supplies, purge the heretic!

  • The so-called ‘leadership council’ doesn’t represent us! They don’t stand for our values! Let’s show them who’s really in control!

  • This system is ripe with targets mates. We have our pick of the most tasty loot this side of the Skellian Verge. Go forth and plunder!

Recon

  • Knowledge is power. We shall be the ones who wield that power. Keep to the shadows and stay silent. Our opportunity awaits.

  • The council is well aware of the treachery in our midst. You have been chosen to root out the unruly elements and ensure we can continue to help those who need it the most.

  • Command requires information on this installation. We WILL go in unnoticed. We WILL achieve our goals. And we WILL come out of this in one piece. HOO-RAH!

Infiltration

  • Alright mates, they’re past. Nothing between us and the target now. Stick to the plan and we’ll all come out of this rich.

  • Chaos has begun their push into this district, however the civilians are still free of heresy. We can use their knowledge of the terrain to our advantage and take the enemy by surprise.

  • The garrison commander has personally taken over this project. A small team can make their way inside and sabotage critical defensive points. If an opportunity to take out the commander presents itself, well that’s all for the better.

Security

  • This is it soldiers! This will not be an easy battle nor a short one. But the Emperor demands we hold the line. We will defend this installation to the last!

  • There’s so much infighting between them, they won’t notice we’ve secured the area until it’s too late! Spread out and stay frosty.

  • Ok folks, we’ve got a convoy going! Our friends here will be our escort. Stay on the road, stick to formation, and for the love of Pete, do whatever they say.

Before we go, here’s a reminder of the Narrative Goals:

Seek and Destroy or Infiltration

  • 20 Tac Op VPs

  • 70 APL worth of enemy operatives incapacitated

Recon or Security

  • 20 Tac Op VPs

  • 30 APL worth of friendly operatives surviving at the end of games
